An eclectic mix of old and new blend to bring to Whitefield the quaint flavor of bygone days while pressing forward in the technological age.

In true New England tradition, Whitefield operates with an elected Select Board and holds an annual Town Meeting where all citizens are invited to participate in the town's government. Issues of every imaginable scope and significance are brought forth by Warrant Articles which are then placed before the citizens and voted upon by registered voters of the town.
On Town Meeting Day (always the second Tuesday of March) registered voters cast their ballots for the elective officials of the town and frequently to decide other major issues. But the most interactive discussion occurs at the meeting where everyone has the opportunity to voice an opinion and ask questions prior to voting.
Once the meeting is adjourned, the citizens rely upon the elected officials and their appointed staff to carry out the day-to-day business of running the town.
