Welcome to the Town of Whitefield, New Hampshire, incorporated in 1804. This traditional New England own is situated along the Johns River north of both Franconia Notch and Crawford Notch and northwest of Mount Washington (Elevation 6,288 feet)- the northeast's highest peak. Residents enjoy the diversity of the four seasons in this paradise located in the Great North Woods Region bordered by the WhiteMountains.                                              

          On this website you may stay informed of all the latest happenings. History buffs will be able to learn about the heritage of the town and its people and will find this a valuable resource for current information about the town.  Tourists and non-resident visitors will find this a welcome, helpful reference and we encourage them to spend time both on the site and in Whitefield.  If you have something to share or a question to ask, please contact us at info@whitefieldnh.org.   Your old photos and historical information is especially welcome!

National Primary Election- Polls open from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the lower level of the C.D.McIntyre School Apartments. Take time to exercise your right to   vote. Every single vote is important and CAN make a difference!

February 2

Starry, Starry Night- at The Mountain View Grand. This popular annual fundraiser for The Weathervane Theatre promises to be a spectacular gala event. Usually sells out early and tickets are available only in advance. Event begins at 6:00 p.m. with social hour followed by gourmet meal, dancing and live entertainment in the ballroom. February 4

Deliberative Session WMRSD-Annual Meeting, 1st Session, of White Mountains Regional School District starts at 7:00 p.m. in White Mountains Regional High School Auditorium. In case of cancellation due to inclement weather, meeting will be  rescheduled to Friday, February 8th at 7:00 p.m.

February 6

Chem-Free Meeting & Raffle- 6:30 p.m. in the White Mountains Regional High School Library. Another raffle will be running until draw date of May 20th. February 11

Public Budget Hearing -Second Session - 7:00 p.m. at the Town Office. This meeting is to review any changes made after the first hearing (January 28th) and to review any petitioned warrant articles received by the February 5th deadline.

February 15

Fun Factor Friday-6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the White Mountains Regional High School gymnasium. Hosted by Steve Cox, this is a great family event with fun games, friendly competition, a door prize and refreshments. All family members (any age) can participate or just be a spectator. Advanced tickets may be purchased at Whitefield School and these ticketholders will be entered into the door prize drawing. Tickets may be purchased at the door, too. March 7

Supermarket Bingo! -at Whitefield Elementary School sponsored by the PTA to benefit the children at the school. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. and BINGO starts at 7:00 p.m. This annual event usually draws a big crowd so plan to be there early for all the fun. Door prizes, 50/50 raffle, bake sale, gift sale and refreshments. Win a food basket filled with groceries! Cost is $3.00 admission and that includes one card with several chances to win. Town Meeting Day - Voting polls open at 8:00 a.m. at the C. D. McIntyre Auditorium and remain open until 6:00 p.m. Town Meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. Voting will be for candidates for the following positions and terms-- 1 Selectperson (3 yr. term); 1 Treasurer (1 yr. term); 1 Trustee of the Trust Funds (3 yr. term); 2 Library Trustees (3 yr. terms);  1 Cemetery Trustee (3 yr. term); 1 Supervisor of the Checklist (3 yr. term); and 1 Moderator (2 yr. term). Easter Egg Roll & Easter Program- 10:00 a.m. to noon at The Whitefield Elementary School.This 4th annual event sponsored by Whitefield Recreation Department includes various do-it-yourself crafts for kids. Tickets for each craft will be available for purchase for 25 cents each. The annual Easter Egg Roll sponsored by the Whitefield Lions Club will take place at 11:00 a.m. and there is no charge for this! More info: 837-9871.

Earth Hour-- on the Common from 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The lights on the Common will go dark for one hour on this Saturday evening to mark Earth Hour, a global effort to raise awareness and reduce energy usage. Summer Camp Counselors- Deadline for applications for those wishing to be summer conselors in the daily summer camp program to begin June 30th. Sponsored by the Whitefield Recreation DEpartment, applications are available at the Town Office. Additional info: Kelly Smith, 837-9871 (ext. 40).

April 19

Rabies Clinic - 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the Whitefield Fire Department. This annual event is a quick and easy way to have your dog vaccinated against rabies. Show your pups you love them-- they are counting on each of us to care! Let this also be a reminder that a rabies vaccination certificate is required in order to register your dog with the Town Clerk. Deadline for registering is April 30th of each year.

April 25

Game Night- 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Fellowship Hall of Community Baptist Church. Munchies and soda will be served. Games for all ages. Bring your favorite board game. Adults may enjoy Trivial Pursuit, Scrabble, Chess, Cribbage and others. Children's games are available but bring what you have to add to the fun and selection. This is FREE! Yup! No charge! Everyone is invited for a fun night.

Katie Rose Benefit Concert- 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Mountain View Grand. Your support of this event will raise funds for the Whitefield Fire & Rescue. Having recently released her newest CD--"Will Work for Food"-- Katie is beginning her concert series with a blend of music from the 60's, 70's and today's acoustic tunes. Katie is noted, among other things, for her frequent performance of the national anthem for home games of the Manchester Fisher Cats and Portland Sea Dogs. Katie Rose Christian Music Concert- 7:00 p.m. until ??? at the Community Baptist Church. Whitefield's own Katie Rose Siggins will raise her extraordinary voice in praise and worship as she performs her uniquely crafted Christian music. All are welcome to come and hear this young artist as she is on the cusp of a sensational career in entertainment. Her newest CD will be available. No charge for admission but a free-will offering will be taken.

Consecration Service- 1:30 p.m. at the NEW Trinity United Methodist Church located right on the footprint of the former church building which had been constructed and dedicated in 1874. Everyone is invited to this very special service where the Rev. John Blackadar, District Superintendent, will perform the ceremony. As many know, the remarkable story of how this church came to be rebuilt is a source of inspiration and an example of true, Christian love and faith. By drawing from the entire community (not just the congregation), donations of labor and materials and many other forms of support have contributed to the reincarnation of this House of Prayer. POPS Concert at WMRHS- On Friday and Saturday nights, beginning at 7:00 p.m., the gymnasium will be filled with music featturing the WMRHS Jazz Band, the Lancaster and Whitefield School combined Jr. High Band and the WMRHS Concert Band-- all under the direction of Michael Martins. Wide range of music and featured soloist Catherine Carter will perform. Concert-goers will be offered a sweet selection of culinarydelights created by WMRHS Culinary Arts students and presented by Mountain View Academy students.Horticulture students' centerpieces will be displayed and the Art Department will host an art show in the cafeteria. Tickets- $3 at the door.

Whitefield Clean-UP Day- Meet on the Common at 8:00 a.m. to pick up your bagsand again at noon for a light lunch that will be served.  Here's an opportunity to participate in cleaning up the streets and roads around the Town of WHitefield. Take pride in your wonderful community. Sign up for the area you wish to clean up. The street or road can be cleaned any time during the week ending on May 17. Bags can also be obtained at the town office and when filled, left by the side of the road for the town crew to pick up. Alumni Weekend--Whitefield High School- This annual event continues to be one of the most popular in the Whitefield area-- year after year. If you are on the alumni mailing list, you'll soon be receiving detailed information and your invitation to attend. The events kick off Friday evening with a Homecoming Barbeque at the fire station at 6:00 p.m. This informal gathering provides an opportunity to connect at the start of the fun-filled weekend while enjoying grilled hot dogs and hamburgers, etc... and attendees are welcome to bring a special dish to share with others. Also, BYOB.

Saturday is free-time for all to do as they please but the Whitefield Historical Society Museum will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon and the Cocktail Reception begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Mountain View Grand and the Banquet & Business Meeting begins at 7:00 p.m. in this beautifully restored hotel. Entertainment and dancing will follow with DJ John Jaworski spinning the discs. Entree selections include pan roasted young chicken, grilled Black Angus NY sirloin, grilled almond salmon and vegetable stir-fry. Cost is $40 per person and includes tax and tip.

Sunday should find everyone gathering on the Common for the famous Lion's Club Pancake Breakfast at 8:00 a.m. Great food. Great Fun. Great Fellowship! Following the breakfast, Last Chapel will be at the Susan Hennessey Astle Memorial Garden next to the library. This traditional joining together before departing the reunion is sure to be a strengthening bond for all who so dearly recall the days of their youth at Whitefield High School.

Civil Air Patrol

Mt. Washington Flight meets on the first and third Tuesday monthly at 6:30 p.m. at the CAP hangar at Mt. Washington Regional Airport, Whitefield. More info at 586-4483

Food Pantry

Friends & Neighbors Food Pantry is open every Monday from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Community Baptist Church, 27 Jefferson Rd., Whitefield. If there is a need when the pantry is closed or if more info is desired, call Pastor Cliff at 837-8887 or Lillian Harriman at 837-2024. Donations of food or money are respectfully accepted.

Girl Scouts of America

Meets every other Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Advent Christian Church, corner of Main St. & School St., Whitefield. More info, contact Pam Milligan, Leader, at 837-3250 or Lillian Harriman, Co-Leader at 837-2024.

Historical Society

Whitefield Historical Society Museum is located in the lower level of the Laconia Savings Bank Building, 22 King Square, Whitefield. Open Thursdays 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. from May through September. By appointment, also. For more info or to join, call 837-2466 or mail to P. O. Box 21, Whitefield, NH 03598. Ongoing exhibits are also on display on the first floor of the Mountain View Grand year 'round and are updated periodically.

Meets at 7:00 p.m. on the 2nd Tuesday of every month. More info: 837-2551

Red Hat Society

The "Over The Mill" Chapter of the Red Hat Society meets monthly on the first Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Generally meeting at the Old Mill Gallery, 36 King Square. Call for details- 837-8778.

Senior Meals

Whitefield Senior Meals served at noon Monday at The Highland House on Highland St., Whitefield; Wednesday at The McIntyre School Apartments, Highland St., Whitefield; and Friday at McKee Inn, Main St., Lancaster. More info at 837-2424.

Whitefield Economic Development Corporation

Meets quarterly at 7:00 p.m. at the town office. Day and date will vary so as not to conflict with other groups meeting. More info: 837-2466.

This charitable organization (501c3) was formed to provide financial assistance to people and animals in need in the North Country. It is named in memory of Joan R. Blechl whose positive, caring spirit inspired its creation. Joan fought a courageous battle with breast cancer to which she succumbed at the age of 68 on September 21, 2001. Her loving influence and ideals of helping others and being a good neighbor to all live on through this charitable effort with the support of all who so graciously contribute.
